Business Crime Prevention Check List:

Exterior:

__ Large reflective street numbers are installed on face of each building.
__ Shrubbery is trimmed to reduce secluded entry points, or places to hide.
__ Identification is always verified of service representatives.
__ Suspicious persons/solicitors and vehicles w/license numbers are always reported to law enforcement.
__ All crimes or attempted crimes are reported to law enforcement.
__ Ladders and tools are stored within the premises.
__ Buddy system is utilized by personnel, late night and in parking lots.

Perimeter:

__ All perimeter doors have dead-bolt locks.
__ Overhead Doors have roller tracks center drilled and padlocked.
__ Doors and windows are kept locked/secured.
__ Window and sliding door stops are installed to restrict openings.
__ Perimeter of premises, including trim is kept well painted and in good repair so intrusion attempts may be easily detected and reported to law enforcement.

Interior:

__ Emergency numbers are adjacent or affixed to telephones.
__ No personal information is provided to unknown callers/individuals.
__ Travel plans of employees should not be published or told to unknowns.
__ When closed, lighting is extinguished fully.
__ When closed, cash terminals should be emptied w/empty tray displayed standing on end in plain view.
__ While open, little money should be in cash terminal. Large bills should not be received in payment for small transactions.
__ Pilferable items are not on display in windows.
__ Vehicles are locked and keys are secured.
__ Keys should be numbered for identification with number list stored separate from key storage container.
__ Keys to your premises and vehicles are stamped "Do Not Duplicate".

Note: Written request on letterhead must be furnished "Certified" to locksmiths, should duplicates be requested in the future.

__ Electric garage door openers are rendered inoperative when premises closed.
__ Engraved identification is completed on all pilferable items.
__ Manufacture, model and serial numbers of items w/photos are filed safely.
__ Suspicious telephone solicitors are reported to law enforcement.
__ Bomb threat plan is instituted by management.
__ Hostage/kidnap plan is instituted by management personnel and remains CONFIDENTIAL.
__ During closed business hours, all employees and management should enter & depart through designated door logging in and out of the premises.
__ Safety: Electrical panels, limited use of breaker locks and locked panel doors.
